The skin is a living organ that is multi-functional. Everyday it encounters attacks and other than our hands, the face is the area that suffers most. Being constantly exposed, it has to contend with the elements and other free radicals in the air, such as atmospheric pollution, chemicals, sun radiation, pesticides and other sources. In addition, there are skin conditions that are mostly genetic. Regular professional skin treatments can help combat the damage done to the skin on a day to day basis and provide essential nutrients and vitamins to aid in its repair. This, along with a good home skin care routine, will greatly improve how it feels and its appearance.
Skin care treatments are a necessity for everyone, we all suffer from too many late nights, sluggish circulation and poor diets. Here at PURA, all our treatments are skin specific, which means we cater for your individual needs. A prescription facial is just that, a facial prescribed for your needs.
What is involved? A prescription facial will involve the cleansing of the skin, toning to refresh, exfoliation to remove dead skin cells and a shoulder and face massage to increase circulation. There is also the application of a mask suited to the individual. In order to open the pores and remove impurities we also include a steam session. All our facials incorporate a Face Mapping exercise which allows us to focus on particular arrears of your face.
Tip: You can aid dry skin by moisturising everyday with a PURA prescribed dermalogica moisturiser or booster. Avoid spending too much time in direct sunlight (harshest hours are between 10:00am and 4:00pm). Ultraviolet rays are the greatest offenders for premature ageing and pigmentation of all skin types and they are present all year round, not just when the sun shines. Drink plenty of water daily, this combats dryness and helps the skin stay moist and smooth. Use a dermalogica eye cream at least once a day.
